EVENT INFORMATION

The Queen B arrives at RISING. Here to celebrate Hard Core and The Notorious K.I.M.—two masterpiece LPs that ushered in a new millennium of rap.

Lil’ Kim wasn’t the first rapper to invade the hip hop boys club. But she was, and remains, the baddest. After leaving home in her teens, inspired by the likes of MC Lyte and the Lady of Range, she started out as freestyler in Brooklyn. It wasn’t long before she established herself as a breakout star of Junior M.A.F.I.A.—the New York crew formed by Notorious B.I.G.

On her debut record, Hard Core, Kimberly Jones moulded herself as the fantasy and the nightmare. Rap’s Mae West, she was spiking funked-up R&B beats with caustic wit. A sex positive sensation and fashion icon who demanded pleasure and stared down rival crews. Biggie was murdered at the peak of Hard Core’s success and on her follow-up, The Notorious K.I.M., she opened up emotionally while doubling down on pornographic funk and experimenting with rock and Latin-tinged beats. She also threw down some club cuts that refuse to cool off.

Now, the Queen of Rap is back for a victory lap—always ready to embrace those champagne wishes and caviar dreams.

Supported by Dutty Worldwide, a collective bringing eclectic vibrance to the dance floor while uplifting intersections of Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous, and POC communities.
