EVENT INFO:
Internationally acclaimed sitarist Rishab Rikhiram Sharma is bringing Sitar for Mental Health to Australia for two special performances in January 2027, appearing at the Sydney Opera House as part of Sydney Festival and Festival Hall in Melbourne.
A sitar prodigy often billed as the last disciple of the late Pandit Ravi Shankar, Rishab has built a devoted international following through his distinctive approach to Indian classical music. Blending centuries of tradition with contemporary performance and mindfulness, Sitar for Mental Health offers an immersive live experience centred on music, reflection and connection.
The project began during the pandemic, when Rishab turned to his sitar while navigating his own experiences with anxiety and depression. What started as a personal outlet grew into a wider movement, bringing audiences together through music and encouraging open conversations around mental wellbeing.
Following sold-out performances around the world, Rishab returned to India in 2026 for a landmark 10-city tour attended by over 100,000 fans. His latest international run has taken him to London's Royal Albert Hall on 1 October, with performances at New York's Carnegie Hall on 21 November, Sydney Opera House on 22 January and Dubai's Coca-Cola Arena on 30 January also on the itinerary.
From performances at the White House to some of the world's most celebrated stages, Rishab continues to introduce the extraordinary sound of the sitar to new audiences. Now, Australian audiences have the opportunity to experience Sitar for Mental Health live for two nights only.
